Someone spoke your name today
Said that you were ok
They said you were doing fine
Having a real good time
And they went on to tell me that
You were happy and on track
So although I haven’t heard from you
I’m pleased to know that you pulled through
When I thought of you today
Just like I seem to often do
I think of all the funny things
That together we would do
And the promises we made
To stay forever as best friends
But I guess as time moves by
We started to make alibis
Now I hear you’re up on high
And soaring through the clear blue skies
I’m just a figment of your past
So distant and fading very fast
Still I’d like to hope one day
That your dreams may make way
Enough for you to think of me
And all that we used to be
But if for some reason you go on
And find that in your mind I’m gone
In my heart you will live on
Just like you do today

Take Her Back
Succumbed to her beauty
Allowed her to use me
She took my heart for granted
And tore my soul to shreds
But in-between the sadness
And the aftermath of madness
There was joy and gladness
In her eyes and in her bed
On the phone we’d talk for hours
On her birthday I’d bring flowers
Gentleman and charming
Around her I would be
She yearned for a real man
One whose mind could withstand
Her wishes and her demands
With a Lexus and two keys
She was teasing and pleasing
Always left me dreaming
Now I realise she was scheming
Just to please herself
So I gave all that I could
Because she knew that I would
Still she could not spell loyalty
Her needs surpassed all else
I wasn’t really foolish
And guessed she’d one day do this
But could not afford to lose this
Feeling that I’d found
So I kept on hanging
Sharing secrets that were damning
Hoping that our friendship
Was somehow heaven bound
But still I ask myself why
If she gave a good alibi
With saltwater filling her eyes
Then jumped into my sack
Why would I dismiss it
Still thinking of her sweet kiss
I’d want to run one more lap
And gladly take her back
Allowed her to use me
She took my heart for granted
And tore my soul to shreds
But in-between the sadness
And the aftermath of madness
There was joy and gladness
In her eyes and in her bed
On the phone we’d talk for hours
On her birthday I’d bring flowers
